Pranom Legal was established to offer family law services in northern Thailand that are handled with the care and considered attention that sensitive matters deserve.

A Practice Founded on a Simple Principle
Pranom Legal was founded in Chiang Mai with a clear purpose: to offer family law services that are handled thoughtfully, explained plainly, and conducted with the discretion that personal matters warrant.
The name draws from the Thai gesture of the wai — a quiet act of acknowledgement and respect. It reflects how we approach each client: with patience, attention, and a genuine effort to understand the circumstances before any advice is offered.
Our practice focuses on three connected areas of family law — pre-marriage counsel for international couples, support through family mediation, and representation in court proceedings. Each of these services is offered with the same underlying commitment: to leave clients with a clear understanding of their position and what their options are.
Chiang Mai's international community means that many of the families and couples we work with have connections to more than one country. We are comfortable navigating matters that cross jurisdictions, and we communicate clearly regardless of legal background.
We do not believe in overstating what legal work can deliver. Our role is to give clear, honest advice; to prepare documentation carefully; and to represent clients with diligence and professionalism. The rest depends on circumstances that are particular to each person's situation.
Our Practice Values
-
Careful Listening
Every matter begins with attention to the client's situation, not a predetermined solution.
-
Plain Communication
Legal matters explained in language that is clear and accessible, without unnecessary complexity.
-
Absolute Discretion
Confidentiality is not a policy — it is built into how we handle every piece of information shared with us.
-
Honest Assessment
We discuss prospects and costs openly, so clients can make informed decisions about how to proceed.

Client Confidentiality Protocol
All client information is treated under strict confidentiality. Documents are stored securely, access is controlled, and nothing is shared without explicit instruction or legal requirement.
Thorough Matter Review
Before advice is given or a document is drafted, we conduct a careful review of the relevant facts and the applicable legal framework so that what we offer is precise and considered.
Cross-Jurisdictional Awareness
For international clients, we draw on awareness of how Thai family law interacts with the legal frameworks of other countries, and advise accordingly on matters that may have implications abroad.
Careful Drafting Practice
Every document — whether an affidavit, a mediation agreement, or a court pleading — is drafted with attention to precision and clarity, reducing the likelihood of subsequent disputes or misinterpretation.
Continuous Professional Development
Members of the practice undertake regular training and professional development to stay current with developments in Thai family law and international private law.
Our Approach
Family Law in Northern Thailand — Handled with Consideration
Chiang Mai has become a place where Thai and international lives intersect in many ways. Families are formed across cultures, arrangements are made across borders, and legal questions arise that require a practitioner who understands the practical texture of those circumstances — not only the formal law.
At Pranom Legal, we work with couples and families at significant moments: the planning stages before a marriage, the structured process of a family mediation, and the formal proceedings of a court matter. In each case, the underlying work is the same — listening carefully, assessing the situation with legal knowledge, and offering counsel that serves the client's actual position rather than a simplified version of it.
We are particularly experienced in matters involving international couples and expatriate families, where questions of documentation, recognition, and residency intersect with the emotional weight of what is often a difficult personal moment. Our approach is to address those questions calmly and methodically, with an understanding that clarity and trust are what clients need most.
Our office is located on Nimmanhaemin Road — accessible and welcoming. Initial meetings are conducted without pressure, and all enquiries are treated with discretion from the first point of contact.
